Dandy Dinner Delivery~

In Nome we have our own version of "Craig's List".
It is a great place to find out what is going on in town and buy/sell items.

During the week I read a message about a fund-raiser for two local
snowmachine riders who were going to be in the
Iron Dog Snowmachine Race.

Both boys had been in the Barrister Son's class and I thought it sounded like a great idea...
Steak dinner and the fixings--DEliVEreD!
Support the boys.
But then I remembered where we lived,
and the current temperatures,
and ....

A few days later the Pilot Man came home and said,
"I committed us to dinner on Saturday."

Turns out he heard about the dinner and jokingly said to one of the boy's dad,
"So, you going to deliver to Dexter?"
And the Pilot Dad said "Yes!"

Woo Hoo!

So hot meals in a bag were delivered to us in the area-
cooked to perfection
by cooks standing outside with two grills--in blowing -30'!
-enough food for days.

Both boys were in Fairbanks the week before getting ready.
On the day of the fundraiser, the Pilot Dad's son was on a training ride with his partner.
It was -60 when they started and the temperatures dropped when they made it to the river
headed to Nome.

There is a reason why they call it the toughest snowmachine course!

This was ONE dinner, the other was in the bag!

Safe travels to you and all of the riders.
Kudos boys to your cooks, drivers and families!

We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner in your honor.....
