Spring Brings Returns~

This colorful little guy enjoyed a splash in the run-off pond.
The Warblers don't usually hold still for very long!

We thought the beavers had frozen in their lodge on the edge of the pond
 and perished during the
ex.t.r.e.m.e.l.y l.o.n.g and c.o.l.d winter.
Usually we see them before now.
While this one appears to be thawed and active,
that may change if he starts chewing on the Pilot Man's trees...

When I came home tonight the Pilot Man said I should come look across the river.
It has gone down enough for us to walk with hip waders.

The glacier on the other side was melting from the top
and the bottom!

Most of the snow is gone from the hills to the north.

The ice movement has re-sculptured the river bend and created a new sand/gravel bar.

The leaves are finally coming out on the willows..they are working in reverse order this spring.
I assume it is due to the cold.

And the cottonwoods are beginning to leaf out.
We are so happy to see that almost everything has returned this year!

I am always amazed how things survive in the land of the midnight sun.....

  1. I'm amazed too how everything springs back to life after a long, cold winter.
