A Surprise Visit~

The Pilot Man showed up when I was at the library teaching CPR
with a very nice surprise-
The Barrister Son came home to visit for a few days!!

He had walked into The Pilot Man's office from the jet...
the ONLY jet that made it in for days.
He was scheduled on a later flight, that never made it to Nome
so it was a good decision to hop on the earlier flight!

It has been almost 10 years since he ran XC here and he said he was surprised how
many people he didn't know.

But he and this high school junior gave everyone reason to cheer as they were
elbow to neck until the finish line!

Then we documented the White Alice sites which may not be on
Anvil Mountain much longer.

And we drove out to enjoy the turning colors.

This kid always reminds me

that although we may never know where our roads may lead

Standing on the shore which is now underwater again!

it is always good to be back home.....

  1. That was a special surprise. How wonderful to have your son home to visit even if it was only for a few days.
I enjoyed reading your previous post about the gold nugget. I followed the link and was able to read your local paper. I really like how they cover the information about what is going on in the schools. I was struck by the local expressions used in the writing. I can't think of any other place that would use musk oxen as a metaphor in discussing education. It really gave the flavor of the area.

  2. So glad that Barrister Son hopped on that earlier flight! How lovely that he surprised you with his visit. Great photos, especially on the highway. Hopefully his outbound flight is delayed and you get him all to yourself for an extra day or two.
